Sonography evaluation of liver health among pediatric population in Puerto Rico
Pediatric obesity is established as a global public health concern that will develop liver complication as a Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. NAFLD is the precursor of significant chronic disease such as steatohepatitis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. This research objective is, for the first time, to establish the association between unhealthy body weight and liver size, volume, and texture in Puerto Rican children’s. The idea is to maximize the possibility for the early detection of plausible changes in liver size, volume, and texture as predictors of liver disease among obese pediatric patients.
