Research Interest
The role of brain macrophages in tumor growth and dispersal, as well as the mechanisms of interaction between tumor cells and brain macrophages.
Development and testing of drug-containing nanoparticles associated with ligands specific for cancer related receptors.
Dr. Kucheryavykh’s laboratory is focused on investigation of brain cancer, particularly on glioma tumors. Gliomas harbor a lot of macrophages (microglia), shutting down the immune properties of microglia and stimulating the microglia to release tumor growth-promoting factors. Dr. Kucheryavykh conducts research on the mechanisms of interaction of glioma cells with immune cells in the tumor microenvironment, as well as on the development of targeted drug delivery to glioma tumor cells.
